The Climate Crisis
As we move
into the 21st century we face unprecedented disruption. Pandemics,
environmental pollution, extreme weather events and forest fires, food and
water insecurity, political crises and polarisation, mass migration and climate
change. What is
becoming clear is that these issues are not isolated. They are both
interconnected and interdependent. They are systemic.
In our
climate, atmospheric carbon dioxide is higher than any time in the last eight
hundred thousand years, and levels are increasing faster than any time in
millions of years. The good
news is that we already have everything we need to avert the worst extremes of
climate change, but we will need to act systemically and with urgency.
